In 2022, the federal minimum hourly wage was $15.55, in 2023 it increased to $16.65 per hour, hence jumped to $17.30 per hour in April 2024. Yukon leads in increasing minimum wage. It surpassed the federal minimum wage, rising from $16.77 to $17.59 per hour as of March 13. This adjustment aims to enhance workers’ financial well-being.

It’s important to note that employers under provincial apprenticeship acts are exempt from adhering to the federal minimum wage for registered workers. Also, if employers provide room and/or board, they can marginally reduce wages, but within regulated limits of 50 cents per meal and 60 cents per day for living quarters.
